Traditional Timber Window Refurbishment and Replacement

When looking to refurbish or replace traditional windows, it is important to understand that unlike modern windows, windows in period properties were not made to a standard set size and specification.

The Sash Window Workshop has collaborated with many different homeowners, interior designers, architects, and developers since they were founded in 1994, carrying out window refurbishment and re-glazing projects, and the manufacture and installation of the finest, bespoke timber windows and doors.

The company is FENSA registered, and members of The Guild of Master Craftsmen and UK Trades Confederation. They are also Safe Contractor accredited, and members of the "Which" Trusted Trader scheme.

They have worked on a wide range of period properties; from small individual properties, to large projects. Some of their previous prestigious clients include: Buckingham Palace; The Admiralty Buildings; The Grove Hotel; and the Oxford Wildlife Trust.

The Sash Window Workshop offer a wide range of services including: new timber windows and doors, with a supply and fit, or supply only service; installing new sliding sashes into the existing window frames; draught sealing and refurbishment; secondary glazing; Bi-Glass - a re-glazing and double glazing service; and a minor repairs service for central London.

All of their new joinery is manufactured from their workshops in Bracknell, Berkshire, where they work hard to replicate as closely as possible the proportions and designs of historic sash windows, whilst incorporating the latest manufacturing techniques. You are welcome to visit their workshops, by prior appointment.

The quality of timber and joinery construction methods is of paramount importance to the lifespan of the product. The Sash Window Workshop use Accoya™ or durable hardwood for their external facing timber. These timbers are reasonably forgiving of any subsequent lack of maintenance or neglect, giving the best possible performance, combining minimum maintenance with maximum lifespan. As such, all their new joinery comes with a 20 year guarantee.

Unusually for most window manufacturers, they also manufacture double glazed units and cut their glass in house. This allows them to manufacture high quality, bespoke windows and doors to suit customer's individual requirements.

The company's refurbishment products provide a one stop shop for the repair and refurbishment of traditional timber windows.

Their re-glazing and double glazing service involves removing and replacing the existing glass with either a single or double glazed unit and includes their comprehensive draught sealing to further improve window performance.

Their draught sealing and overhaul service involves a comprehensive overhaul of the window combined with the installation of discreet draught sealing materials. If required, they can also provide a specialist redecoration service for your timber windows.

Their minor repair service for properties located within central London provides a solution to fixing minor faults, such as replacing broken cords, replacing cracked glass, or installing new window furniture.
