Lyndon Design helps transform Michelin starred restaurant

In addition to savouring an outstanding culinary experience, diners at the newly refurbished Michelin starred Number One restaurant, located within Edinburgh’s prestigious The Balmoral hotel, can relax in opulence and comfort thanks to Lyndon Design’s handcrafted seating solutions.

Specified by the in-house design team at Rocco Forte - proud owners of The Balmoral - a collection of Lyndon Design’s classic two seater Albany sofas now adorn the elegant dining area; bringing a soft and intimate feel to this esteemed venue and helping draw diners into luxury and comfort.

Boasting a hardwood internal frame that is accompanied by a fixed CMHR foam seat and back for added comfort, the Albany sofas were specified in a striking fabric that blends beautifully with the Scottish warmth and charm of the restaurant’s red-lacquered walls. The sofas also feature distinctive gold coloured back buttons in leather, and together with luxurious gold coloured leather arms and border detail, handcrafted solid oak legs finished with a clear lacquer complete the sofas’ aesthetic appeal.

Commenting on the specification, Interior Designer at Rocco Forte, Tim Young, said: “The Albany sofas not only perfectly complement the bespoke banquette seating and formal dining chairs also featured within Number One, they reflect the elegance and history of this revered establishment.”

Managing Director at Lyndon Design enthuses: “The Albany collection is a popular choice throughout the hospitality sector, particularly for those venues that wish to create a timeless and sophisticated ambiance. It is the perfect choice for echoing the splendour of the hotel’s impressive history.”

First opened in 1902, The Balmoral - which means “majestic dwelling” in Gaelic - scooped Best Scottish Hotel 2015 in the Hotel of the Year Awards 2015. Located at Edinburgh’s most prestigious address, No. 1 Princes Street, where the Old Town stops and the New Town begins, the hotel’s magnificent clock defines the city’s skyline, and since the day it opened in 1902, the clock has run three minutes fast to ensure no one will ever miss a train. The hotel also boasts an award-wining Spa.
