The building is currently undertaking a programme of major refurbishment with ISG awarded the contract to carry out the works.

Michael Laird Architects, based in Edinburgh, has specified Sylan for the washrooms that were being overhauled. Knowing that the washrooms needed to look sleek and sophisticated for the new refurbishment, Sylan Veneer was the natural material finish. Each Sylan washroom is truly unique and built to clients’ exact specifications.

Here, the vision of timeless elegance was brought to life through the use of European oak real wood veneer. With invisible fixings and 44mm-thick doors, Michael Laird Architects knew that no detail – no matter how small – would be overlooked.

During the first phase of the project, two sets of male and female washrooms were updated. As well as the flush-fronted washroom cubicles, coordinating Veneer duct panelling was also supplied to the WCs, urinals and wash hand basin walls to ensure that continuity was carried out across the whole area.

Sylan’s standard 11 beautiful Veneers are all sourced from responsible and sustainable forests and certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Sylan is currently in the process of manufacturing the second phase of the project. The beauty of being an engineered veneer means that Sylan can be specified for different areas of a project at different times and still be matched to perfection.
