A Modern Classic

The architectural and design bureau N&G Ananiev Interiors was founded in Russia in 2002 by a family and creative duet – Nadezhda and George Ananyev. The bureau engages in a full cycle of works: architectural design, construction, design and project management. This company works with a wide range of styles: from art deco to mid-century, but always in its own way.

So Covet House, being the most powerful tool to inspire and to boost creativity, with more than 1700 products and 1300 inspirations from a mid-century to modern classic style, was the perfect match for the creative duo’s next project.

Nadezhda and George met the owners of this property 10 years ago. The family with Russian roots decided to reinvent the house they bought in 1980s-1990s near New York and make it their permanent address, still reminiscent of the late 80s with a retro appeal, but still a very modern twist on the overall aesthetics.

Trusting in the brands under the Covet House name like Boca Do Lobo, Delightfull, Brabbu, Koket, MAISON Valentina, Circu, Luxxu, Essential Home, Rug’Society, Pullcast and Foogo was best way to produce a luxury design interior that was both retro and classic but also contemporary.

Imagined in blazing and unusual colours, the result was an amazing interior in vintage style with contemporary furniture. The mixture of pattern and materials, but especially the blend of different shapes – harsh and strict lines from the vintage furniture – batter completely with the shapeless and fluidity of the modern designs, creating an appealing and showstopping interior design.

It was important to make a statement with expressive walls through bright wallpapers, combine artistic and remarkable furniture and also outstanding and even provocative pieces of art.

The first floor gathers a singular public area, which is a suite of rooms closed in a circle. On the second floor is a private area. There is one room for each child and a separate outhouse for the guests. The walls remained in the same place – the Ananievs did not move them, but completely cleaned the ‘stuffing’, leaving only the doors, as the designers found them really beautiful and in conformity with the concept.

Known for its strength, intense and nature inspired upholstery, furniture, lighting and accessories, Brabbu brought to this remarkable project the MAYA armchair.

This saloon is the perfect climax between bright colours and the playful composition of modern classic style. The MAYA armchair was inspired by the Mayan civilization’s Goddess, providing a piece that, with the combination of the matte aged brass legs and the mustard-yellow velvet, creates an intense addition to this saloon design.

Complementing the vintage look are the masterful lighting pieces from Delightfull. With a beautiful and fresh take on the mid-century lighting design, heavily inspired by the art of the 40s throughout the late 80s, bringing the fresh classic lamps with the progress of colours and materials of modern decor.

The colourful and extremely communicative graphic lamps, in various forms and shapes, from numbers to symbols, were used in this project both the “D” and “R” shapes.

The letter “D” brought to the hall, was inspired by the vibrant Las Vegas feeling, bringing the fast-paced rhythm of the city into the interior decoration. And the “R” giving it a rustic appeal to this lighting piece, both retro yet modern.

The Modern Classic style is one of the staples of Covet House designs, and this residential project shows how perfectly put together an interior can be by mixing retro with contemporary furniture.

Covet House keeps offering the best curated design to the world with its brands and aims to inspire the world.
