Based in Luton, Mount Lighting is in its 23rd year of business, thanks to father and son duo, David and Yorick Tuffin, who established the company in St Albans. Today’s company mission is to make the process of specification, manufacturing, and delivery of commercial and bespoke lighting as seamless and effortless as possible.
The original premise of the business was centred around converting other manufacturers’ mains lighting products into emergency versions by adding control gear and batteries.
Luan Lazarus, Marketing Manager of Mount Lighting comments, “This was a good market to be in at the time when the requirements for light fittings to include three-hour emergency backup was introduced. Most manufacturers didn’t have options in their product ranges, so we became the company that everyone went to.”
“Having had experience in this field, Mount Lighting also got involved in refurbishing old light fittings to upgrade the control gear. The business evolved into supplying more of our own-brand products and was successful as the need for energy-saving lighting over the (soon to be banned) fluorescent lamps was becoming an integral part of organisations’ green ethos.”
Mount Lighting went on to be known throughout the industry as the company to go to for more technically-challenging requirements.
In 2015, the focus turned to project sales and creating a range of architectural and bespoke LED lighting products. This provided better solutions and control over the quality of products supplied to customers. In 2022, the company underwent an expansion and moved from the original premises in St Albans to Luton, Bedfordshire. The purpose of this was to increase the size of the warehouse and production facilities to accommodate the company’s growth. Today, the founder Yorick has curated a range of high-quality, customisable LED lighting for the commercial interiors market and is renowned as a lighting solution provider, not just a manufacturer.
Luan comments, “As well as an expansion of the facilities, we also grew our team! This was to further increase our abilities to service our current clients and help educate prospective clients of our unique offerings within a competitive market. Our sales team has a vast technical background, most having been electricians themselves, therefore their knowledge and understanding of every perspective of a lighting project means they tend to get the designs, lux levels and all other requirements for commercial interior fit-out and design and build projects completed quickly.”

Mount Lighting is also proud to be a member of Made in Britain and has been since 2021. The mark is shown on a selection of own-brand LED lighting products – which are bespoke and manufactured to order in-house.
