Hosted exclusively for BIID Registered Interior Designers and Associates, the event consisted of eight 45-minute seminars covering a diverse range of topics throughout the day. The programme began with an insightful seminar from Spiral Cellars, providing members with technical background on the components and processes involved in constructing a prefabricated natural wine cellar. Integration company, SMC, then informed designers about the level of technology found within the modern home, the latest design trends and how best to work with a technology consultant to benefit your design in their CPD session, ‘Working with Technology.’
Following a short break, Black & Key discussed the key considerations designers should be aware of when customising a piece of furniture and how to develop a bespoke design from a client’s brief, whilst Selectaglaze Limited’s CPD covered a range of topics to help designers effectively specify secondary glazing to enhance the environment in listed and heritage buildings.
Roca Ltd gave attendees an insight into new technologies and innovation in the bathroom environment with its ‘Shaping the Bathroom Space of the Future’ CPD, followed by Ecoled’s seminar which gave interior designers an understanding of the various lighting finishing techniques, materials available and best positioning techniques.
Domus discussed the history, innovation and trends in tile design and porcelain production, demonstrating how technology drives trends and how trends drive technology. This was followed by the CPD session from bulthaup Mayfair, which covered premium kitchen production technologies and materials, as well as sharing their planning expertise of kitchen living spaces.
In between sessions, members had the opportunity to network with fellow designers and industry professionals and talk individually with the CPD providers, as well as find out more about BIID Industry Partners. Attendees received seven CPD hours of ‘structured’ learning for the day, enhancing their knowledge and forming part of their BIID annual CPD hours total.
